Notice: saw, observed.
Tears: fluid in the eyes as a result of crying.

CHAPTERS 3-4:
Remove: clean; took off
Flash of lightning: bright light in the sky, usually during a thunderston.
Chains: metal rings connected together.
Bravest: most courageous.
Locked: closed and secured with a key.
Corridor: passage in a building with rooms at one or both sides.
Footsteps: (sound of) feet walking.
CHAPTERS 5-6:
Oil: lubricate.
Career: job done for most of one´s life.
Recovered: got better.
Revenge: vengeance
Peashooter: object used to fire peas or other small things at people.
