CHAPTERS 1-2:
 Ambassador: accredited diplomat sent by a country as its representative in a foreign country. 
Estate: large area of land in the countryside.
Turned: looked behind her; walked around. 
Twin: (two babies) born at the same time. 
Stars and Stripes: name of the flag of the U.S.A. 
Housekeeper: person employed to organise a house. 
Notice: saw, observed.
Tears: fluid in the eyes as a result of crying.
Pray: ask a god for help.
Still: quiet, silent.
CHAPTERS 3-4: 
Remove: clean; took off 
Flash of lightning: bright light in the sky, usually during a thunderston. 
Chains: metal rings connected together.
Bravest: most courageous. 
Locked: closed and secured with a key. 
Corridor: passage in a building with rooms at one or both sides. 
Footsteps: (sound of) feet walking. 
CHAPTERS 5-6: 
Oil: lubricate. 
Career: job done for most of one´s life. 
Recovered: got better. 
Revenge: vengeance
Peashooter: object used to fire peas or other small things at people.

shop owner: the people that have a store.
try out: when you do a thing for the first time, and you don´t know if it is going to be funny or be horrible.
queue up: when you wait for some time, to do something.
wash up: when one thing is dirty, it is washed with soap and water.
